Jess McCollum focuses her practice on criminal defense, representing both juveniles and adults who are facing simple misdemeanors to serious felonies in the Commonwealth of Virginia, at both the state and federal levels. Ms. McCollum defends clients facing DUI charges, sexual assault charges, assault and battery charges, and traffic infractions. Ms. McCollum also handles civil matters such as protective orders, expungements, gun restoration petitions, and collection matters. Additionally, Ms. McCollum has experience representing clients before various administrative agencies.
Ms. McCollum graduated from the Catholic University, Columbus School of Law where she participated in the Families and the Law Clinic, representing indigent clients in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Following law school, Ms. McCollum worked for a general practice firm in Northern Virginia, where she handled many types of law, and quickly realized her passion was in defending those charged with criminal offenses.
Ms. McCollum understands that those seeking criminal defense are experiencing an especially stressful time, and prides herself on her ability to understand, communicate with, and empathize with her clients, while providing zealous advocacy. Ms. McCollum understands the importance of upholding the constitutional rights of every individual and strives to ensure that her clients’ rights are protected and that the needs of all her clients are met.
